Rutan, Long-eze, N-89AL

I have owned several aircraft. The first was a homebuild B8 Benson Gyrocopter, the next was a homebuilt Teenie two, then a Piper Tripacer,(which I rebuilt), next was a Piper Cherokee, and last, a homebuilt Long-eze...

The Rutan Longeze is a fast, fiberglass over foam, canard, pusher, 2 place aircraft.
I completed this aircraft in the Experimental Catagory, in August 1990.
The engine is a Lycoming 0-235-L2C, and at sea level is rated at 118 horsepower.
Empty weight is 840 lbs, and all up flying weight is 1425lbs, including fuel, bagage,
Passenger and Pilot.
Cruise speed is between 150 and 165 MPH, depending on how much gas you want
to burn. At 150 MPH it will cruise on about 6 gallons per hour.
The tanks hold a total of 52 gallons usable, and thats more than enough,
considering the human element!
It took me 5 years to build it and I completed it just before I retired from the FAA
in November 1990.
It currently has about 350 (10-15-2013) hours on it and still going strong.
